Community Organization Information
Community Legal Resources recruits experienced lawyers throughout Michigan to represent nonprofits at no cost.
Any nonprofit organization located in a low-income neighborhood or that serves low-income individuals is eligible for Community Legal Resources’ services if its funds are insufficient to hire an attorney and the assistance would provide significant benefit to low-income persons or distressed communities.
Nonprofit organizations take on a range of activities that benefit from the involvement of a skilled lawyer, such as hiring and firing employees, acquiring real estate, changing corporate status, and paying certain taxes.
To qualify for Community Legal Resources’ assistance, nonprofit organizations must complete a Request for Legal Assistance Form. Organizations are urged to contact Leor Barak at (313) 969-7199 to determine eligibility for service before completing this form.
